MVP seems like very interested to own numerous media businesses

With the recent interest of Manuel V. Pangilinan of taking over the BusinessWorld business paper, there have been restrictions made basing on the Constitution about a group having such great interest over acquiring broadcast, print and radio media. This concern started when MVP took over ABC-5; now TV-5.

Such restriction states that no private group should take too much influence. MVP is about to break this restriction. Having owned TV5 and Nation Broadcasting Corp. And has got minority shares in Philippine Star and also Philippine Daily Inquirer.

According to Ray C. Espinosa, there is no such kind of restriction stated in the constitution.

“I don’t know of any law on that. Where did we get that anyway? Even the UP Law Center says there’s none,” he said.
