Ever since the implementation of the Executive Order 39 (EO39), which limits the speed of vehicles in certain areas in Davao City, the rate of road accident decreased. Reported accidents decreased to 41 percent according to the Traffic Management Center.

However, as we all know, if there is an advantage there is also a disadvantage of it.

Taxi and jeep drivers are affected as at the end of the day, their earning is low compared to before the EO39 is implemented. The 30 kph speed limit in the city does not help drivers to get more passengers. Thus, one driver who usually earns Php450 profit per day is now struggling and would sometimes just get Php200 at the end of the day.

Drivers expressed that they can’t do anything about it. And, they don’t want to violate such policy as they don’t have any money to get their license once they are capped when caught violating the rule.
