Philippine Coast Guard to own ten new vessels


Ten 44-meter vessels are soon to be owned by the PCG from Japan as a part of its modernization program that tries to enhance the monitoring and patrolling ability of the coast guard.

The 10 vessels are worth $187 million and will be gained through a loan.

The officer of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said yesterday that a percentage of the new vessels is set to procure from Japan will be utilized to expand security watch by the Philippine Navy in the West Philippine Sea.
