Philippines running low on galunggong


The Philippine government will execute a three-month non-fishing season for galunggong (roundscad) in Northeastern Palawan beginning Nov. 15 to secure the number of inhabitants for this species.

Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala said the National Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council has endorsed the execution of the no-harvest-season taking after an exhaustive study on the relocation and generating propensities for the species.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) would manage the execution of the angling ban until Feb. 15, 2016.
