Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Arroyo filed the House Bill 2684 that proposes a shorter working hours for all government teachers. This means, public school teachers will cut their working hours from eight to six hours a day.
The propose bill states:
“Their present work schedule has left them stressed out and exhausted much to the detriment of our students,”
That any work executed beyond a six-hour duty must be given additional compensation or be given at least 25% of the teacher’s regular remuneration.
Furthermore, it also mentions about the exemption of public school teachers from the Civil Service mandated eight-hour work for government workers.
