A proposal of 14th-month mandatory pay for employees, sounds good?

Senator Vicente Sotto III submitted a proposal under Senate Bill 1645 proposing for a mandatory 14th-month pay to all employees in the Philippines.

“We need extra earnings in the middle of the year to help in school and medical expenses. Health and education needs of the ordinary Filipino must be assisted by our government,” the senator said.

Its calculation is it should not be less than 50% of the employee’s basic salary.

The bill is still under discussion whether to approve it or not.
