Chevrolet Spark passed the “small-overlap frontal crash test”

Are mini cars safe on the road?

In a recent report by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it shows the test result of 11 mini car models where only one passed or received an acceptable rating. Yes, only one and that is the Chevrolet Spark. The Fiat 500 and Honda Fit earned the bottom spot.

The criteria for the test were, structure, restraints, kinematics, and impact on head and neck, chest, hip and thigh, and lower leg and foot. The possible ratings are good, acceptable, marginal or poor.

The test was lead by Joe Nolan who is continually doing research about crash-worthiness.
