Major Telecoms remains operational for areas hit by the 7.2 earthquake


PLDT and Globe telecommunications are making sure that their network is in full operation on those areas hit by the 7.2 earthquake.

PLDT expressed that Smart Communications Inc. will still be operational despite the damages in transmission facilities in some cell sites.

“We are also setting up free call services and free mobile phone charging stations inaffected towns and municipalities to assist residents as well as emergency agencies involved in rescue and relief operations,” PLDT said in a statement.

On the other hand, Globe said that no network damages from the earthquake on those hit region. Facilities in many areas in Visayas are fully operational.

“Our network continues to be operational to provide critical telecommunication services for rescue and relief operations affected by the earthquake,” according to Globe.
