Here’s what DOH says about the ‘flesh-eating disease’

“There is no reported case of ‘flesh-eating’ skin disease in the country yet. Absolutely no reason for the public to panic,” says Health Secretary Enrique Ona.

There is no such thing as “flesh-eating” disease in Pangasinan. Therefore, there is no need to be worry about such news.

To be clarified about the two cases aired by a news reporter, who was wearing protective suit and mask when she did the interview, the patient from Santa Barbara and Villasis had psoriasis and leprosy according to the provincial health officer.

The two cases were not that of the rare necrotizing fasciitis, a serious bacterial infection that spreads rapidly and destroys the body’s soft tissue, Pangasinan provincial health officer Dr. Anna Guzman said.
